Opinion On “Jim DeMint: Public Broadcasting Should Go Private”
February 20th, 2012 by admin
Senator, I’ll go along with defunding PBS if you’ll agree to break up advice up the monopoly ownership of most of the radio and television stations in the US, with a handful of corporations owning most of them and raking in huge revenues from their use of the publicly-owned airwaves with little asked of them in return.
And then, instead of the current miniscule licensing fees they pay have owners of multiple stations pay a flat tax on their revenues – successful stations will pay more, less successful stations will pay less.
Promote a free-market approach and break up the monopolies to encourage competition.
