The very beginnings of good dental hygien
January 24th, 2010 by admin
For everyone, the proper care of the teeth should start during infancy. Cavities, specifically the streptococcus mutants, can actually be transmitted to teething infants directly or indirectly. This means that kissing and sharing of utensils can actually transmit the cavities to the child. Parents should also know that pacifiers are better than thumb sucking in terms of development and alignment of teeth. Also, good oral hygiene should start even before the primary teeth erupt is again something parent should be aware of.
All these shows that dental care should start even before the baby has his teeth. Parents should then consult a dentist to create healthier conditions for the erupting teeth of their babies. As the child grows into toddlerhood and older, the dentist should be able to monitor the overall dental health of your child to ensure that he will have good permanent teeth later on. The dentist can also help the parent and the child in dealing with dental problems associated with the age of the child, such as pulling loose temporary teeth and others. Pediatric dentistry then is needed in this case.
