    Can You Survive on an Interior Designer Salary?

    So you have a flair for decorating and would like work in design.  You have a lot of questions and one question is how much are interior designer salaries?   Can you live on a designer’s salary?  It depends on where you work, your design education, and experience.  The average salary for an interior designer in 2008 was just under $45,000.  Designers that have their own business typically make more than an employee of a furniture store.  There are many specialty fields in interior design with varying income potential, some do only commercial while others may only do residential.  Other specialties are specific areas of the home, such as kitchen designers or bed and bath designers.
