    Rain Gauge

    February 6th, 2010 by admin

The rain gauge is a cone shaped meteorological instrument that is used to measure the amount of rain that has fallen. Any measuring glass left outside can serve as a rain gauge. The Rain Gauge like the Digital Rain Gauge has ascending marks, which are used to read off the specific amount of rain in millimetres. Since most rain showers are usually quite windy, it is a good idea to fasten the rain gauge somewhere so that it doesn’t blow over. We fastened ours to a pole hammered into the ground. It is important to locate a good place for a gauge. There should be nothing overhead, like trees, electric wires, or the edge of a roof.
